Vy commodore Wagon S2
Hi all! Thanks again this site is fantastic

question, I have a series 2 Vy, LN30, looking at some parts they are listed for the L36. From my research they seem identical, however cannot confirm. Has anyone had experience or knowledge on this?

hope this is making sense.
Cheers

VY Ecotec is an L36, not an LN30.

Ok thank you, sorry I also had a typo, should have read LN3 (not LN30). So I understand the LN3 is the L36?
Forgive my confusion, as the engine plate stipulated LN3.

Pretty sure LN3 ended up just being the build plate option code for all V6s. Only Commodore that actually used an LN3 was the S1 VN. Then the S2 VN - VR used an L27. Every V6 from VS-VY is an L36.

The only differences made to the L36 between VS-VY related to the PCV and EGR systems which also meant the intake manifold was changed slightly to suit, so if you're buying anything relating to those try to buy model specific stuff.

So if I need to buy an inlet manifold gasket kit for a VY ecotec,
I should get one to suit L36 ? ? ?

( even tho the engine plates on our 2002 VY wagon & 2003 VY 2003 ute both say LN3 )

Yes, for either an ecotec V6 (aussie suppliers) or L36 (US suppliers).
