Gday just wondering if I need a VR Berlina ECU or just a VR ECU like executive or something if I was to do a ECU swap. Cheers
you would need a berlina ecu if you want to be able to run everything because the lower models have different ecu's which dont have the software in them to run certain stuff normally.
Cheers mate thought so, say like the trip computer and stuff hey. But I was thinking it could be something else that runs it...
yeah wavez dat would be the one!!! i dont think it has nething to do with the memcal but i could be wrong.
Yeah come to think of it maybe I need a Calais, Berlina ECU...Just want to throw this one out and wack in the new. (second handy I mean)
yeah getting a berlina one would be good and a calais one should be good but only problem is i think you need to get the ecu and bcm coded together so they work together. otherwise the car wont start and most things in the car will not work either eg. central locking, immobiliser/alarm etc
its all integrated into both to an extent, something to do with the immobiliser/alarm and other stuff
if the immobiliser/alarm isnt working then it shuts down most things in the car (i found out the hard way) so definately get them coded together.
Definately not, they are not coded together. The BCM controls this not the ECU. I am 100% sure because i have canged the BCM in my car from a wrecked commodore.
The BCM and the ECU are totally different and not related at all. The BCM (Body Control Module) controls things like the central locking, cruise control, immobiliser, etc. The ECU or PCM actually (Power Control Module) controls everything to do with the car running, timing, AFR's, injector pulse, etc. There are different levels of BCM's depending on what you have, but the PCM is dependent on the actual series run of the car.
You will need a VR V6 auto one of the same year, I don't think it matters whether it is a Berlina or not.
