Ecu Replacement

So I’ve just spent 900 dollars on my 2004 vz executive due to overheating reasons, 2 days later the car will not start, I call the same company and they say that it’s the ecu system immobilising from replacing the battery and that it will cost 1200 dollars to replace. Looking for literally any help on the situation as I cannot afford to send the parts away!
