my fuse for the a/c system has melted and im not too sure why.
its supposed to be the 25amp fuse and my a/c still works fine.
can anyone give me an idea why so much current is going through there?

looks like excess heat, can be caused by a bad connection. take the fuse out and make sure there is good contact between the fuse and fuse holder. if you have access to a multimeter pull the fuse and check the current draw with the A/C on etc

how is it connected, soldered to the fuse? looks pretty dodgy, surely he could have found another spot

how come he didn't just solder it to the base, like to the contacts the fuses connect to?

that would be even more dodgy! any good sparky would never hook up a wire like that, i think its been done so the tacho is fused, by why not use a wire from the instrument cluster behind the dash? all you need to do is test if the fuse breaks the circuit to determine if its fused or not. or simply run your own inline fuse.

Mine did same thing, i replaced the fuse and havent had problem since.
I even put a lower rated fuse in... 20A was all i had, havent had trouble since, although i do keep my nose peeled for a burning smell.
