Did you tighten the battery terminals?

    Go over everything you touched.

    BTW, welcome to the forum.

Did you replace it with an OEM-style fuel pump or did you have to modify the wiring in the fuel sender?

Its was the same model fuel pump as the one that was in there. When we took it out and replaced it the red wire came off so we put it back in the plug and it started but now its having electrical problems could it be that red wire shorting out?

It wouldn't hurt to double check it.

So update : i pulled the plug out of the outside of the fuel tank and turned the car to the on position and it looks like that pesky red wire is the problem. Its now booked in to a mechanic to fix it. Hopefully that is the problem fingers crossed

That's why you go over anything you have touched/worked on if you ever develop a problem shortly after working on a vehicle. Most times the issue lies with something you have done or the result of something you did.

Ohh well, at least now you know what's going on.

It's also a good learning curve, even those of us who have been tinkering with cars for years still learn something new occasionally :)
