Sounds like maybe stretched timing chain. When you ease off the accelerator it slackens and slaps against timing cover.

i had the same prob...

it turned out to be that the controller arm on my pulley was on its way out...
but it could be heeps of things...

try lubing your belt a bit to see if that wipes out the sound...

if it comes back it could b the controller arm of the belt pulley.
thats wat happened to me.. it costs $130 for a brand new from from holden...

CAN U GIVE A BETTER DESCRIPTION OF THE NOISE... eg. screeching, clunking etc...

Is it in the engine or more towards the transmission?

Hi sorry for replying so late, It's more towards the back of the engine near the gear box but the gearbox has been replaced and also it was doing it before that anyways.
The noise it comes when the foot is taken of the accelerations suddently the straight away the chaining noise comes till the engine comes back to the normal idelling stage.

PS: at what rpm is the idelling is meant to be at ?. mine is around 750 - 800 when warm...

thank you
