found this about a week ago, really cool video to give you a insight into combustion engines SpikedHumor.com » Engine Camera » SpikedHumor.com
man that is sweet! you can see the four cyccles so clearly! i love it! How much has it been slowed down though! aZk.
been slowed down heaps, probbly using a 1500fps camera then played back at 30fps its just awesome how u can see the ignition and all! i wanna see one with boost!
certainly does show it well, suck, push, bang, blow. should be mandatory viewing for anyone wanting to learn about engines and before they start fiddling with one
true, the yhave definitly cut out the valve overlap period and probably some of the BDC piston travel to cut down on time lost where you can't see the piston traveling. still, very informative. the flame front is very interesting, woulda expected a much larger flame front and see it moving out from the spark plug to the piston bore
Ok, I wanna know how they got a camera in there? I'm assuming it was an optic fibre deal but still....
camera and light source might be mounted in there similar to how a sparkplug is mounted I'm guessing.
Titanium or tungsten body to screw into the head? and perhaps a suitably polished diamond lens. these materials would easily withstand the compression and temperature. The green colour almost looked as though the whole thing was shot with a fluoroscope but there's waaay too much detail for that I think.
Nice find, I have has a screensaver of a 4cyl engine being built and then it working made with a 3d modeleing program, it also shows the cylinder cycle. I havnt seen inside a real engine like that before. Kool.
