hey guys, finally getting a secondhand motor for my 2008 sv6, it’s in reasonably good condition, but i’m wanting to clean under the rocker covers (especially around the cams on the drivers side) and do some manual improvements to the breather system.

what would you suggest is the best way to clean sludge and crap oil off of cams and heads, and what’s your opinion on doing an engine flush before i service the new motor?

How bad is the sludge? It may also have a large build up in the sump and behind the timing cover. Realistically sump and timing cover should come off. Could sit it on an engine stand and turn it over and wash the sludge out with kero and let it drip onto a tray rather than fall in the sump.
