hey guys recently was driving and car died on me and nearly didint start for no reason drove back home only to realise that some wires from the crank where hitting the belt so was short curcuting**, bought new battery and started her up after fixing and now there is a really bad knocking nice could it be valve spring or something like that or is my engine BUGGERED!?
It could be the harmonic balancer moving around causing the knocking. If its got any movement in it at all, its stuffed and will need replacing. You need to remove the belt to check the balancer for movement. It could also be the reason the CAS wiring ended up hitting the belt.
harmonic balancer isnt moving at all the knocking sound is coming out of the very top of the engine like a bolt is lose flying around in there...., a very big bolt
If its not anything external like the balancer, then the engine is probably stuffed if its making that much of a noise internally.
sounds bad, but also could be belt tensioner? ive herd they can cause a bad knock when ####ed and can throw belt off etc, worth a shot, take the belt off and start car, if its still there its internal if not check all drive pulleys etc
i am having similar knocking noise. its just happening randomly today.... i am worried abt my engine...
