Yesterday i got a backfire and blew 2 vacuum hoses off, when i reattached the rear vacuum hose i noticed i had oil leaking down to my transmission, i know its recent as its clean oil from an oil change a fortnight ago. Would this be a head problem as until about a month ago when i changed my thermostat, the temp guage was hitting up to and including 3/4. Will a new gasket be fine or could the head be warped? Cheers

maybe your rocker covers need tightening ??? they are common to loosen and leak oil.. check them

My mate's car had cooling issues as well. Turned out to be head gasket, so possibly?
    Should check the covers though
