engine noise, vx v6

I recently bought a 2.5 lukey catback and before that my car was stock and sounded like a grandma. So now ive got that, my exhaust sounds great but one problem, my engine still sounds like sh*t. Especially when i start hitting high revs the engine noise drowns out my exhaust! So a few questions.. 1. what mods are there that will give my engine, not the exhaust, a better, deeper sound? Would a CAI help? other air intake upgrades that help?

2. Would extractors help? do they affect cabin noise?

3. --unrelated-- Do aftermarket cats affect exhaust sound?

An intake will help with the engine noise but its a ecotec mate so your kinda stuck with the engine

The extractors will make the exhaust louder and give you a little more top end

And to me high flow cats make the exhaust have a slight raspy note to it

The problem is the engine itself, not much you can do. Just stop redlining it, there not built for that.
