Anything from a 5w40 in colder months to 15w50 (MObil, Valvoline Durablend etc) or 10w60 (Castrol Edge) in the summer. The LS1's are a strange animal where some run better on thinner and some better on thicker. What are you using at the moment ? And are you having any issues ?

I normally put Penrite everyday fully synthetic in, but I'm thinking of trying a new oil based on some reading here. Can anyone give any input into these choices:

Note engine has only recently been rebuilt, and its a Ecotec

    • Penrite Sin 15-40 $70
      Shell Helix Ultra 5-40 $62
      Mobile1 Supersyn 5-50 $75
      Valvoline Synpower 10-50 $67

They are all excellent oils and i have used nearly all of them. Are you in Melbourne, look for those oils in Big W. The Shell and Mobil 1 around $56 there. Synpower look for it at Liberty Servos, i get it at some for $45 regularly. For Summer i would be inclined to use the Penrite Sin 15w40 and Synpower, even though the others will hold up just as good, they are just thinner, if you have no leaks use them.

Recently rebuilt, go the thinnest you can. Has it been run in ?

Just heard from another forum that Penrite will now be making the Repco oil.
Can anybody confirm?? Does anybody know why they changed away from Mobil???

Mainlube 175 Full Synthetic Race Oil.

Better than royal purple... but at ~$42 per Litre... its fairly expensive.
