So I guess what I'm saying is, lean s
Is good! It makes power! However.. Too lean can be catastrophic.

Can't see how lean makes power at all. I race gokarts and Avid f1 fan and we only lean out when try to save fuel, in turn makes you slower. Turn it up and rich it out for maximum power, but obviously chews more juice.

Wrong. Well not completely wrong but on a petrol engine more air is more power hence why turbo chargers and superchargers massively increase power because its getting more air into the cylinder. Obviously you need the fuel to compensate but running rich doesn't create power. A diesel engine however is the opposite. More fuel is power. The revs are governed by the fuel that's injected not the throttle body on the air intake. A petrol engine will make the most power right before detonation. (lean)

think he was meaning that when these cars are from the factory they are at about 11-11.5 AFR to comply with emissions, then when tuned for more power they are tuned to about 12.8 AFR for best power
