VF SV6 S1
Hi All,

Sorry for the dumb conversation, but how would you go about engine swapping an LS1 out of a 2001 Holden Ute into a 2014 Holden Commodore SV6 VF.

The VF is Auto and the LS1 is obviously a 6speed manual.

So my real question is, Is it a lot of work to do this engine swap and is it even possible? How much would I roughly be looking at?

Engine is $5k.

Won't be able to drive it on the road legally coz engine older than car.

If you want a V8 VF, best to sell the SV6 and buy an SS or Calais.

Lotsa work, lotsa parts, lotsa time, lotsa money. Engine looms, ECU (VF never came with an LS1, so factor in tuning), probably custom tail shaft and gearbox cross member as the VF never had the base T56, entire cooling system, blah blah blah. Commodore engine swaps are usually a thing you do with a complete donor car of the same series.

Long story short it's a waste of time and money. It also will be worth nothing when you sell it.

Conversion = sell V6 car, buy V8 car. Job done.

Also, 5k for an LS1 (even with work done and a gearbox) is a rip.
