Just swap the inlet manifolds over, as the VS ecotec uses 2 temp sensors, and the VT and later ecotecs use 1 temp sensor, and these temp sensors are located in the inlet manifold. The inlet manifold gaskets are well known for failing pretty early on the ecotecs, so you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and fit new gaskets when swapping the inlet manifolds over. Also the VT and later ecotec inlet manifolds will have an open port where the EGR was fitted. The VS ecotec didnt have EGR, so fitting a VS manifold will also fix this problem.
Ive recently fitted a VS ecotec to a VY and had to basically do the opposite.
