Hi Legends
Im looking at putting a series 1 VT 304 and auto into my series 2 VS 304 Ute
Just wondering what are the main differences in the engines/boxes and what I would need to change to help the transition go smoothly.
Any Help would be appreciated
Cheers

As far as I have reaserched I don’t believe the engine from the vt is sequential injection as it’s only the series 1 and not the 195 variant but does run a maf currently.
Any Help would be appreciated

VT S1 is sequential injection, as is the last of Vs s3.

You’ll need to use a Vs 304 wiring loom and pcm, along with associated sensors including map sensor.

Inlet manifold will need to be changed to one from VN-VS as IAT port is in the manifold runner.

Accessories and fan, radiator and shroud from a VN-VS will also be required. Use a VS s3 radiator. Trans cooler lines may need adaptors made up to work with the VS radiator. Size of lines will be 3/8 for the VT. Your existing lines will be 5/16.

Sump is the same, k frame is different. Use a VN-VS V8 k frame.

Very helpful info
My vs is currently running a factory 304 so all accessories,k frame, manifold etc will be available for the swap so should be relatively straightforward by the sounds of it. Any info on whether the auto’s are different mate?

Autos are different but compatible.

Two hurdles.
1) trans cooler lines are a different size as per my previous comment, and are routed differently.
2) full circle bellhousing may be an issue if you’re running aftermarket headers. Many cut a section out of the bellhousing for clearance if required. Alternatively, you would purchase headers to suit a Vs s3. All VS S3 autos were the same upgraded unit with 3/8 lines and full circle bellhousing.

As far as engine tune goes, should be no trouble running the roller cam engine on the old map based engine management with stock tune. Fuelling should be in the ballpark. You’ll pick up quite a bit of performance with the roller cam engine.

You’ll need to leave the knock sensors disconnected which shouldn’t be an issue.

Some were flat tappet cam and old block, some were flat tappet cam with roller block, and the last of them were roller cam with roller cam block.

Hence the reference to later model Vs s3 statesman and Ute.
