I guess it depends on what is attached to it. Without accessories but with manifolds, I have 190kg for ecotech and ~220kg for V8. Auto with the flex plate is lighter than manual with flywheel.

Approx. 200kg for Ecotec (just engine), not exactly sure for V8.

Just out of interest, the 7.0L LS7 engine weighs 228kg, pretty light comparing to the Ecotec + massive power.

The pre Ecotech V6 is around 10kg heavier than the Ecotech.

If anyone is really interested, I have somewhere a brochure from the Holden Engine Company with weights (and spec.) for the 304 injected with standard "banana" inlet manifold and also the VN GPA manifold. This is from when HEC was looking to sell the engine to smaller, specialist, car companies like TVR and Giacattolo.

Looked up the V8 brochure (for what it's worth):

V8 auto banana, ready to run w' manifolds and alternator: 219kg
V8 manual banana, as above: 238kg
V8 w' GrpA manifold, 4 bolt mains, stronger internals, manual: 250kg

Found the weight of the pre-Ecotech (M62) S/C V6 too: 192kg

The N/A version would be a bit less and I'm not sure what is attached to it at that weight.

cheers, so even a V8 with trans and manifolds won't be more the 375kg so my 500kg chain block will be more then enough to do engine/trans swaps together in my garage. jsut need to mount a runner system to make life easy
