is it correct that you cant sell a car that has been hit with an EPA infringement?
I am asking because i am buying parts off this guys car and he says he cant sell me the whole car because it has had an EPA on it

it all sounds a bit twisted to me.

Thanks

you cant get the defect taken off the car that you bought, its illegal to buy a defected car, its usually not worth getting the defect taken off in the first place....thats why it was sold.

just buy the whole thing cheap for parts and you cant be touched by emmision laws

i would assume youd have to buy it unregd, then get whatever it is fixed, get it tested, roadworthied, engeneered if that was anything to do with the problem, then go about using it.

failing that buy the car as is and use it for parts, if you never reg it all you need to do is get a signed bill of sale to prove you payed for the damaged vehicle and didnt pinch it.

being a VL theyre usually pretty cheap when in half decent condition.... defected by the EPA usually means its got leaky injectors, blowing smoke, few oil leaks, rooted cat converter etc.....
more to fix than to buy a whole roadworthy standard VL

vlv8vics got the idea about buying it off him would be a good investment heaps of spares for your car

yeah the guy said it is in good condition tho. so ill give him a ring tomorrow and get some details about what it was busted for, he said he wont sell the motor tho, he is makign it into a drag racer. its a calais and thats my dream but i cant afford a rw one so this one should be good even if it has no reg which it wont. ill do the all the roadie stuff myself and do the actual rodie at work, easy as pie. hopefully he will sell it, dont see why he wouldnt
