yo, went to start up my car thismoring and it started up but it was making smoke clouds and running like a fat man with his pants round his ankles did a self diag and it spat out a code 41 No Crankshaft reference pulses. Ignition voltage < 11 volts etc. which is the crank angle sensor, i checked the wiring lug and it wasnt covered in water causing a short or anything, where do the CAS wires run to? coil packs? might check if i can get a circit between the two but could it be anything else? ive got a spare crank angle sensor soo if its the sensor ill replace it but has anyone else had this problem?
How long did the car run properly for? 3 weeks. Bugga. Good chance the CAS has died. Normally the CAS gets cold water over it to stop over heating type failure. I'd start with replacing the CAS. Ive had one fail in no time at all after the first lasted 15 years. Second one lasted about 18 months. I'm no real help on where the wires go to - book is home and I'm at work on a Sunday:supersad:
try a dfi and coil pack first i replaced the sensor on my mates car still got the code changed coilpack and dfi as one unit away it went and when looking at the dfi one set of wires on one side of the bolt goto ecu the otherside goes too sensor
well just checked the wiring from the dfi moduel to the CAS and it gets no resistance, tried a spare CAS not bolted up but with a balancer in the sensor (timing fins as if it was on the car, still popped the code, ive got a spare coil packs that only ran for a few minutes but i might test it anyway see if i can get the error light to go away i think luke replaced the CAS recently anyway as this motors from his old car (its a EV6)
**** man, you must have a monkey sitting on your shoulder that doesn't like your car, it seems to break more then it runs. or maybe you need to revise your driving style a little:whistling
nah not the way ive been driving, it when i parked it last night it was running fine no engine lights thismorning its a no go! i tested another coil pack, still gave the same error, im ripping the s1 loom out and going to the wreckers on wedensday and getting a s2 sensor loom ill replace the whole lot and hopefully kill the problem dead in its tracks and anymore problems in the future it can just sit idle for now!! ohh yeah and just my luck i snapped my bonnet cable aswell!, oh well atleast the tmu will have fun trying to get my bonnet open
