Yo all, Just checked the error codes for the first time on my VT 304ci and noticed the following in which I can't find any info on. Go through the usual ritual....on, off then on again ect. The engine light goes out...then I get 2 quick fashes...pause(about 3 seconds)....then the code 12 'til the cows come home. The 2 flashes at the start are like the flashes of the number 2 in the 12 code. I thought it might be code 20, but there is no code 20. It goes from 19 to 21 on the 5 litre. Is this normal or am I missing some thing. Any help would be appreciated.
It doesnt make sense if its spitting out code 20, because as youve already said, there is no code 20. Maybe your not reading the flashes correctly, although you seem to know what your doing from what youve posted up, so it shouldnt be that. Id disconnect the battery for a few minutes to clear any old logged codes and to reset the ECU, and then retest it, it should only flash up a code 12 over and over once the codes have been cleared and the ECU reset. If it only gives you code 12 after its been reset, then start and run the car for a while and recheck the codes again to see if any new codes log. Let us know how you go with it.
Thanks for the reply. Yep 2 flashes after the engine light goes out....pause.....code 12. I'll disconect the batt tomorow, take it for a run and let you know. I just had a thought......having had a mafless tune done on my sequential 304ci, (first one) I'm wondering if it's a unique code? I will still check your recommendations.
I tried what you said. Still does the same 2 flashes on start up. I just spoke to Scott at Chip Contol who did the tune and he doesn't know either. He said it may be just something that confirms that the ECU is going into diagnostic mode. It wont matter after today, because according to the Mayans, we are all gunna die anyway. While we are on the subject, can you believe people are actually taking bets on how the world will end. (True) How the hell could you collect when we are all dead.
