Hi Guys. First off I know there have been other threads about this issue, but having looked through those I can't find one that sounds exactly the same as my problem. So about 8 - 9 months back I got an ESP OFF light and Check Engine light, which both disappeared before getting the car into Holden to check. they said they found absent codes in the sytem, and explained that as meaning the codes were logged, but no longer relevant as everything tested out as fine. So it's been fine since then til about 4 weeks ago, driving home from work on a Friday I got en ESP OFF warning, but the car was driving fine so I continued towards home. A few hundred metres from home pulled up at the lights, got CHECK ENGINE & SAFETY MODE ACTIVE warnings, loss of power etc. Pulled off to the side of the road, let it sit for a while, got it restarted and running ok again so got it home and into the mechanic the next day. After a couple days he got back to me, said it had a bunch of codes which he cleared, but kept getting a low voltage code and a MAF circuit code. So he replaced the battery and cleaned the air intake / throttle body assembly, everything tested ok, it ran fine for 1 day, then I got the ESP light again. Took it back, fault code was for the MAF circuit again, and he was also getting an open audio circuit code which he thought might be backfeeding and triggering other errors. He was reluctant to put in a new MAF sensor without confirming it was the problem, so got hold of a loan one and road tested with that in, was all ok, put a new one in, roadtested, all ok. Took the car home, drove it a couple times that day, no problems, next day i get an ESP light again. Take it back again, still getting a MAF code and Audio code. After consulting with a couple other tech's, they all agreed it was highly likely the audio problem was causing the issue. So I took it to Albert's, turned out the original guy that installed my sound gear has done a very dodgy job. The car spent the day in Albert's getting that all sorted, took it back to the mechanic on the Saturday, he cleared the existing codes and ran a full scan, got no more errors at all. Drove my car all weekend with no problems, starting to get confident that it's finally fixed. Then this morning, head off to work and get 500 metres up the road and the ESP OFF light comes on again. So at this stage both myself and my mechanic are at a bit of a loss, so i'm wondering if anyone has any further ideas or has had similar problems? I have now spent $1600 on not fixing the problem and would really like to get it sorted out. As much as I like and trust my mechanic, and he's been very forthright with me, and in fact charged me a lot less labour than he has actually spent on my car, maybe I just need to take it to Holden? Oh and for info purposes, it's a 2006 VE SV6, had timing chains done 14 months ago, up to date with servicing etc.
