my guess was when the iac failed it burnt the stepper motor driver out in the ecu and someone reset the base idle. I think Ive done that before it a while to work it out in my case I think the wire was cut with the power on during a conversion of a vn v6 into a hz.

yep, anything could have happened when the motor was originally transplanted into the car.

JBA kit car V6 series 1
Friday, hot day, drove 5 hours western district to Melbourne return. Car never missed a beat, including in traffic. IAC when cold operates much better. Economy better around 10.3L/100km towing empty box trailer on freeway. Car did have 3.7:1 diff (rd cortina) now has 2.92:1 from 6 cylinder Corry with 14" wheel gearing is now a little taller than a vn Commodore.

Ps the car only weighs 1140kg.

Do you want interior pics of the car or van?

Looks like you have it well sorted out. We were up around 40 degrees in Euroa last Friday- I don't like taking the VQ out in weather like that- last time I was caught in a bushfire road block and had to turn off the A/C to prevent overheating. Using Holden and Ford parts your car should be on the road for year's ahead.

JBA kit car V6 series 1
The JBA KitKat was first manufacturer in 1982 by 3 entrenched Leyland engineers. It is not based on any other design but the 1938 jaguar ss100 is close to it.

Needing a TD Cortina donor car it is commonly made with the 2 litre engine although there is some with turbo Nissan and Toyota engine as well. There is 3 I know of with the v6 commy motor.

There is two models of the JBA Falcon, the router 4 seater with a boot like mine and a sporty 2 seater without boot.

The still make them today assembled with a BMW engine. Body is fibreglass and some sections are aluminium.

2L Cortina engine with some basic mods will blow away a V6 Buick even with a few bolt-on's. I had a 2L in a 68 Capri and there wasn't much around at the time where I lived that could beat me in short drag. Let the clutch out, floor it and tyres would light up no problem at all. I had no problem beating all the Holden V8s around me in the late 80s.

it would be a 2 litre with a big cam and lots of head work.
my first car was a td cortina 250 cross flow it would kill the 4 cyclinder cortina off the lights and over a standing 1/4, a 253 commodore or 302 xd falcon would beat it over a 1/4 by at least 2 car lengths. Yes i was a fuckingidoit as a young bloke.
Hopefully the JBA isn't using the solid cortina disks

My Capri would smash V8s on a 200m drag, even 308s and 302 XCs no problem at all. Mate's 302 XC would catch up and pass me, but off the mark I had him all day. Over 400m yeah he crap all over me. I don't know what internals my 2L Capri had, I thought it only had extractors, 45mm webber and exhaust. Another mate had the 250 Cortina, the one before they went to that rectangle headlight, and I could beat him off the mark.
