Hay guys ive just brought a new ssv ute which i have recently upgraded the exhaust. Ive had a full stainless steel 3" Xforce system installed. The system consists of 1" and 7/8 headers, Hi Flow Cats, and 3" cat back exhaust. The system LOOKS great!! only problem is the thing doesnt sound much different to standard!!!!.. I intend on putting an OTR and cam upgrades on in the next coming months. The technicain at the performance shop told me he would put a larger muffler in the middle (22") as with the cam it would be to loud and drone.. Is changing the middle muffler out to a smaller one (10" as he has suggested at no extra cost) goin to make much difference?. I told him i was after a nice loud, deep note. The xforce system was what he suggested but it hasnt delivered.. Can anyone help with suggestions, and also what are the performance shops duties towards getting me what i want without me having to fork out any more large amounts of $$$.. OR am i just stuck with what ive got???

Narh mate Havent brought the VAREX system, I had to wait a week befor the exhaust could be fitted so i chopped the rear mufflers out of the standard system myself just for a bit of a note befor the full system and at around 2200 rpm and below i can hardly tell any difference between that and the $3600 system. The only time u can tell any difference is when its wide open.. Start up and idle sounds the exact same !!!!

Ohhh well thats why. Yeah with no rear mufflers they are extreamly LOUD but unfortuntly sound ****, well it might not sound that horrible on a V8 but im sure the xforce would sound better. I took my SV6 mufflers off just for the fun of it and yeah it was ridiculously loud but disgusting,

Mate maybe you can go DIFF DUMPERS?

Here is a video of a 6.0L vz calais with the 3inch XFORCE SYSTEM BUT WITH DIFF DUMEPRS - he also has the mufflers attached there by some hanger or somthing so it does look like it has a exhaust, so you wont get into **** with cops

VZ 6.0L exhaust - diff dumpers - YouTube - hope that helps buddy

Take the middle muffler out all together and fit two hotdogs, will sound much better. But then again, it IS an X Force...

I run no middle muffler on my 2.5" system and the sound is completely different to stock. Your full 3" should sound nice, but as mentioned above I'd drop the middle muffler.

I ran straight pipes from the cat back on my e1 clubby. I felt like it lost low down torque which it probably did. I'd recommend at least a h-pipe crossover in place of two straight pipes on the middle.

it should have an x merge already or at least whats known as a kiss merge where the pipes are (mandrel) bent together and a small oval shaped hole is made where they touch then welded together. this often gives a better result note and hp/tq wise than a fabricated x merge or h merge. as stated above ditch the centre muffler altogether and drop in a couple of dogs in its place. it'll sound much better. apart from that ditch the x-force gear and go custom

I think hot dogs are designed to quiet down straight through exhausts. So you use hot dogs in place of a centre muffler but they are quieter than no muffler but louder than a central muffler. I might be wrong but I thought that is how it works?

Maybe try with no muffler or hot dog?

No worries mate. Happy to help.

In regards to suspension I am running stock in my wagon. But if your serious about suspension then Bilstien is the way to go.
