Hello Again

So yesterday Arvo I installed a complete exhaust system into my VY Calais SII 3.8L

Proflow tuned 2.5" extractors
2x 100 cell cats
Xforce twin 2.25" cat back

So I fitted everything up on a hoist at a fabricators who let me used their workshop,
We don't have a exhaust specialist in town anymore so had to do it myself

Everything went in nice and easy

Just had to get the fabricators to weld up the cats and flanges

But after installation I took it for a spin it was pretty bloody shakey

Get a strong vibration which varies through different rev ranges

So I've got all the mounts attached welded up a mount for the second mufflers on the car back which mimics the positions of the original

Only one I haven't got attached is where trans is as I was told it wasn't necessary but I think I might get a bar welded between both cats pipes to utilise that mount

The original system was the single cat system like most series I but my SII was build late 03 just before the new EPA laws got implemented and Holden changed the systems to dual cats to comply with new standards

Any advice would be bloody awesome

So here is the photo of the cats I got made up

Unfortunately they don't have a pipe bender so as you can see that was the solution

Was the old Exhaust Broken/Damaged ?,
And why did it need to be replaced ?
In saying that, its a L36, your not going to get much of a note from a L36,
I just recon your caused yourself a headache with issues like vibrating/rattles, as you mentioned, or even leaking, mounting issues.

Yeah old had a blocked cat a "I think, it would get ridiculously hot on a warm day and a long drive you would feel heat hit your legs jumping out the car"
Two dented smashed in mufflers which might of be causing the cat to warm up because of restriction I guess

Yeah I thought the same about the note of it until I started it up after installing it, will upload a vid later on,

Yeah I've checked for leaks at the flanges all sweet there,

But one of the cat where sensors are meant to go has fallen out during a drive yesterday, but the vibration was there before that fell out, but will replace that later today when I wake back up,

As for the vibrating, look at any vac leaks, or in your case sensors are plugged in correctly,
I would say something could be cooked,
Any errors come to screen ?
You may need to get its scanned, because not all errors will display on the dash.

No noticeable vaccum leaks I'll look again though,
Not getting any error codes coming up on the dash, I might see if Supercheap still does scans today

Will get a bolt to replace the one missing too I think I have to spares from the O2 sensors from the extractors at the yard

Thanks mate

I've noticed my idle has dropped to around 600 rpm and it fluctuates up and down pretty rough when it does that,

But I'll be getting a plenum spacer and 69mm throttle body along with the tuned ecu from mace in the next month so hopefully that will help the idle issue out

Well this morning the idle is back to normal luckily

Video doesn't do it justice, was some weird background noise but you get the gist
Sounds slot cleaner irl
When I take it for a drive after lunch I'll update see if the rattle has miraculously fixed itself too lol
