One the weekend I've been repairing the exhaust and I've also replaced all the exhaust mounting rubbers.
Up front on the mount that's on the rear of the transmission it had a washer spot welded to the end of the mount which I had to remove to take off the old rubber and am wondering if the washer is necessary to stop the rubbers from sliding off.
An easy fix would be to drill a hole right through and insert an R clip.
The picture is only an example of the part I'm asking about.

they have clips on the end you get from Holden with one way little prongs that bite over the raised end.
If they are re-used they tend to get loose and fall off.
I used small hose clamps on mine.

Our Holden closed up shop after 59 years and thanks for the suggestion, think I'll go with a washer and a R clip.

This is what was there holding the rubbers on.

Thanks but those ones don't fit on the ends with the bulge.
I reused the original ones as per your recommendation on the hanger at the end of the muffler and then tried them on the transmission mount but the hole is too small. Then again are these ones you recommend especially made for the ends with the bulge.

No these are for the rear exhaust mounts (that are on the body of the vehicle NOT on the actual exhaust on most all commodores, and mid section from about VR to VZ.
There are no clips for the trans exhaust mount from factory, the rubber is slipped over and before you tighten the mount bolt for the hanger, you "load" the hanger, or stretch the rubber a little then tighten the hanger.

This will stop the rubber from sliding off. Provided it's grease and oil free of course.

Thanks Matt and I to couldn't see the rubber coming off with the bulge on the end but just to make sure I fitted a washer with an R clip to the ends.
I've had the car 8 years and its using the same muffler and pipes well except for the U one I've just replaced so someone must had that washer welded on the hanger before that.
