Hey everyone

Im looking for an exhaust system for my SV6 ute. Im looking at getting it done in the next week or so. Can anyone tell me of a good exhaust system and if you know good exhaust shops in melbourne?

Im currently looking at a X Force 2.5'' cat back ... it sounds pretty good from youtube ...

Also anyone knows which is better a di fillipo or a walkinshaw catback system? Both dealers quoted me about the same price...

In the future i would like to get pacemaker extractors is it possible to do the catback system first then the extractors?

Hey rapid.

Monaro327 is the best guy to ask about the exhaust system.

The general consensus is the stock system is fine if you are leaving it NA.

All you need to do is swap the rear mufflers, get extractors and swap out the 2inch part and hotdogs to 2 1/4 inch system stainless steel.

Out of the two listed I prefer di fillipo, I put the stainless steel mufflers on my ute.

And yes you can do the catback first then the extractors, or vice versa, you dont need to do it all at once.

Cheers

if you have alot of dollars and no cents go for a dual 2.5" system.(LOL)

for me the stock system which is already stainless in 2.25" is enough. this is a small section of 2inch pipe between the front muffler and the dogs. i had this removed and replaced with a sureflo merge and 2.25" pipe.

the stock systems most restrictive part is the rear mufflers which are tri flows by design. means the gas has to flow 3 times around sections in the muffler. if you replace these with large body straight through mufflers you'll get a good note and a bit more power.

Theres a bloke on here with a 2.5inch xforce on his sv6 and i'm trying my best to help him out as the drone is killing him he says you can't even talk in the car.

Hey mate.

Would you be able to post a video or your exhaust please?

As I'm just going to get the SS muffler and tips and put either a hot dog or different mufflers into it.

SV6 exhaust

Mate, listen to Monaro327.

I got pacemaker headers, hi flo cats, and a full catback exhaust installed the other week. Now I was silly enough not to go to an exhaust specialist and I didnt do enough research myself, and the guys that did the system mustve rang their supplier and were told to use an xforce catback 2.5" system. Now this system is pretty much built for a v8, not only is it overkill but xforce are a pretty nasty cheap brand - no offence.

I picked up the car and mate the sound was EXTREMELY loud, like I had trouble listening to the radio and talking in the car. There was also a cheap tinny noise when you revved, my girlfriend said it sounded like a skyline - ouch!

Anyway long story short and many conversations with some specialist exhaust centres and Monaro327, I found out that the stock 2.25" catback are actually the best you can get in terms of power and exhaust note, you just need to change to rear mufflers to straight-through's. You can take out the hotdogs and crimped section of the catback if you want it louder. The brand that Monaro327 and myself were recommended for the rears were Redback and we are both happily using them now. Check out Monaro's post for videos of the sound, I can highly recommend going down this path that I have outlined as it sounds and performs great.

So I hope this clears up some confusion for you as I was devastated after having that bloody xforce system put on it was so horrible, but look noise and loudness is subjective and its all personal choice really.

Just so you know, the redback brand does not support the Utes.

I was getting a pair of redbacks fitted and they wouldn't fit in, the supplier screwed up big time in thinking the sedan was the same as the ute.
