I think if you remove the hotdog it'll sound a bit nicer. I don't think you'll lose power though, and I doubt you'll get a lumpy idle out of the V6 unless it's missfiring :p

If you've got two mufflers still, it'll be fine. I had one straight-through muffler on my VP's catback and it didn't drone 'till 110.

    VN V6, nothing special
you "should" be fine with drone at 100..... mines still fine at 110, all depends on what muffler you have....
you will get a better sounding exhaust, i also doubt u loose power since a straight bit of pipe has no restriction?

but seriously, do it... car will sound so much better :)
(ive also heard of taking out the middle muffler and leaving the resonator/hotdog on the rear.... apparently has heaps less drone but its louder.... maybe look into that? i was going to but decided not to due to ride height)

Should see if its a straight thro muffler, ditch the hotdog get a straight pipe, if u want abit more beefy sound pacemakers recommended, and if you want it meaner again convert it to manual :D

I have done a bit of R&D with systems, if you want it a bit louder but not to sound like crap, remove the most restrictive muffler and leave the hotdog and other muffler. Although this is a bit weird because they usually run either two mufflers or one and a hotdog. Hotdogs are definitely worth keeping, they take the raspiness out of the note.
