My Vz is nearing the end of the manufactures warranty, and i got a letter recently from Heartland holden telling me all my furure services will be only $184. Today they sent me a letter telling me i have to have my car now serviced every 10,000km instead of the holden book service of 15,000, WHY i might be a littly cynical here but if i had the car serviced under the holden warranty every 15,000km at $220 .why sould i now pay $184 for a 10,000km service which works out to be $276 every 15,000km. And they have the hide to tell me its a reward for my loyality??????? So i rang Heartland seeking an explanation and guess what, they couldn't give me one .
It's the same with me.If you look at your extended warranty booklet it tells you that for the warranty to continue you have to service your car at the same dealership where the car was originally purchased. They have also reduced the servicing period from 15K to 10k.Unfortunately for us we have signed for this extended warranty period so we are stuck with it.I know it doesn't makes sense but they wrote the rules so they can get more money out of us,but any small problem that arises with my car I will make damn sure they fix it or I will keep coming back annoying the ****ttt out of them.
I'm not sure but wouldn't the engine must have ran a fair amount of k's at the end of the normal warranty and requires more care and frequent servicing mainly due the the wear and the amount of k's its done. Just a thought.
Extended warrantys are not worth nothing anyway..to much fine print in them.. Its just the car yard trying to sting you for even more cash....do the service yourself..atleast you will know what has been done for your money..
Ive had my Vz for over 2 years and its only done 37,000km i only average 10,000km a year it had 17,000km on it when i bought it so now i would have to get it serviced every 6 months or every 5,000km. And the warranty only covers limited amount of things, yes i think i might be going to the local service centre for any major services ,but just doing an oil change and filter fot $184 is a bit steep those i can do my self .
Just say one day the alloytec done past 150,000k's, it would be safe to service it more often like every 6 months or less rather than once a year. I think every 15,000k's is nuts!!! In 5 years time manufactures might say every 20,000km, who knows?? I believe that the more frequent the service the better for your engine.
the way it was put to me was that holden (or other brands) dont give a stuff about the private buyer that does little km, thats why they make the servicing requirments a longer distance apart to appeal to fleet buyers that their cars a cheaper to run etc etc you get the picture, your better off, servicing it every 5000 or 7500 if you do a higher than average kms, and do it for what $10 for filter and add $50 for oil do the maths and thats over 60% cheaper, than you can spend the extra on a few beers or whatever rocks your boat, i personally dont think their extended warrantys are worth the paper their written on, ive had them knock back warranty claims on a car that was 2 years old, 'the shocks arnt leaking so there can be anything wrong with them', even tho when you push on the car it would bounce for 5 minutes afterwards
there really isnt a major service on these cars so to speak, the only major things to do are, change brake fluid every 2 years, change coolant every 4 years, and change the spark plugs at 120,000km or 60 if its on gas but still there not all that major, the rest is simple, air + fuel filter every 45 and diff oil, well when its black, holden dont think they require changing, but id do it around the 60k to 75k mark
