Remove the door switch, cut the wire in half and insert a diode with anode facing the car side, not the switch side. Then attach your wire to the pigtail of the door switch.

Wouldn't having the anode on the car side of the switch cause the switch to never trigger the interior light?

The switch in the door, one side is connected to ground (such as body) and other goes to the BCM.

If the anode is on the car side (BCM) of the switch, the interior lights will no longer be triggered when the doors are opened, maybe you meant the other way around?

The door switch is used to switch an earth connection, so BCM --> Door Switch --> Earth (Chassis Screw)

The car side is therefore the positive side, and the anode must point towards the BCM.

With diode it should look like this: BCM --> (+ Diode -) --> Door Switch --> Earth (Chassis Screw)

Hope that makes some sense haha

Nah, if it was a positive trigger from the door then that would be true.

@Tasmaniak: thanks, i'll look at that, i've never used a diode for negative triggers, only positive.

They work exactly the same but in reverse!

If you've ever done a viper alarm which only gives you one light output for indicators then you'd the exact same thing to drive the indicators.

Good to remember, thanks.
