The costs involved in geting new headers for my WL ls1 is more than I`m willing to pay, but do want them. So. Ive been keeping a eye on ebay at used ones. The advice from my local exhaust shop is dont buy them, and they will not fit used headers.

This been said, my pockets say different.

I have seen two different types of headers on ebay. Short style and Long style. I want to be able to fit them mysef and not need to weld/require a exhauset shop (if possible).

What is the best style to suit my needs, I`m after something that I can bolt onto my heads and in the short term cats, which I dont thinks is possible with "long style" headers, or at least factory holden ones. Then onto my xforce catback.

If someone has something suitable for sale shoot me a message. I was also told that headers would help reduce/get rid of the drown I have

you need a new exhaust shop imo - it seems they don't like getting their hands dirty

Keep an eye on ebay/gumtree even sus out some wreckers you'll be surprised on what you may find

BTW tri-y's will be cheaper than 4-1's

Mate I am doing the same thing, supercat cat back, about to source some pacemaker tri y's and now I am looking for cats,
Get the long ones, wait and you will find the cats then fit yourself or pay a mechanic to do it

The difference between short and long is only in the HSV. The HSV has short headers made by HM I think, that are HSV specific. All other aftermarket ones are long.

But then again, if you are talking about tri Y or 4-1 then that is different. Then they are all the same length.

Extractors generally do reduce drone, but yours would be caused by the exhaust.

Just get the extractors, bolt them up and get the car towed to have the cats fitted, or drive there with open headers lol

I'm hearing some interesting stuff , Genie do a short 4 into 1 to bolt up to existing factory cats back , they also do a long collector tri Y which won't ,tri Y's will be better suited to your every day CAI & tune. HSV fitted extractors are pretty much ordinary thats why everyone ditches them , Pacemaker are good gear but people are paying too much for them second hand.

    do your home work!

Thanks for the info guys, have been looking at some used pacemakers. Used they seem to go from anywhere between $200-400. I also believe there a bastard to fit, so may looking into fitting prices elsewhere.
What's a reasonable price to pay for fitting?
The place I asked about fitting and said no - reasoning was, they said the manifold bolts often snap and used headers often are warped and don't sit flush on the head and will leak.

No, Genie don't make a set that bolt to the factory pipes, they make a 22" short primary 4-1 set that keep the cats and O2 sensors in the factory position, which means you still have to cut the front off the cats.
