    Hey

What extractors would be cheap yet good for a VT V6 Commodore?

    Are Pacemaker any good?

Any good places other than ebay to buy them from? I'm in melbourne

    cheers

Pacemakers are well known brand and thus been features in Street Commodores magazine (as far as I know once or twice in V6 with a Vengeance project starring a VP). Though Pacemakers are not cheap however I read somewhere they were reliable.

Pacemaker are one of the better brands, however, on a reasonably stock engine, it won't really matter what you put on. No real power gains, just better response and economy.

    i got pacemaker

    kept the stock 2.25" exhaust

to me it has the exact same effect as a 2.5" exhaust except you gain a lot of pickup down low,,not lose it.

on the highway it revs a lot freely just as it would with a 2.5"

but i got mine at the wreckers for 150

I doubt very much a 2.5" is faster,, slower i reckon, till you put somthing serious on it a 2.5" is just a burden IMO

2.5" = good difference. Improved my 0-100 gtech by a tenth and a bit. :)

nicko, they can a little. Not so much on a standard exhaust, you're right, but I've heard a 2.5" before and after extractors, and it became deeper and richer. :)

it would only make sense for the extractors to change the note and volume of the exhaust note. Some of you might remember me being a musician. In terms of music, making an instrument longer makes the note deeper. This is why a trombone has its deepest notes with the slide at length, and its highest notes with it closed/short.
So if you think of headers in that respect, then the note should be deeper, because good headers are tuned length, and nearly all are longer than the factory header.

In terms of volume/amplitude, if the gasses are moving more freely, then the volume will be increased. Which is why a catback is louder than stander. The catback does NOT amplify a sound, it stops attenuating it. That is unless you have a setup designed to increase the volume (megaphone effect)

Extractors will range from about $270 - $450 depending on the brand you go for. Then there is fitting on top of that.

You can't go past HM headers

However these will cost you more than $450... Closer to$650
