The first bit of rust I came across in the ute which was sold to me as "100% rust free" lol

Cut the bottom off the drivers side guard. You can see the bottom sitting underneath the guard in the pic. It was essentially made of bog and rust

I'll post some more pics tomorrow

I ended up sanding over a tin of bog off that thing - and then used half on my new tin too. Gotta learn somehow haha. At first I was trying to just cover the areas that were low, then I realised that you need to coat the whole area and THEN sand it back. After figuring that out, it was relatively smooth sailing in terms of filler work.

Very early stages

Managed to score a console for $70 which was covered in blue felt. it was all cracked and broken and all the clips undeneath had broken holding the bottom half of the console together. I used some plastic weld by permatex, and some VHT vinyl dye and you'd never be able to tell it was that damaged. I decided to try my hand at sewing too - made the arm rest cover

have you been looking at Tim's Ute thread for inspiration or something :p
errr who's tim? lol sorry not familiar with many people on here :p

Ari, I tried your way of uploading the pics and it's much quicker and easier. Thanks for the tip!

I'll put some pics up of the new (old and shitty looking) motor that i'll hopefully have back together in the next couple of weeks. I've drilled the holes in the block for the coolant passages to suit the 12 port head and tapped the old holes in the block to suit the 9 port head and fitted grub screws with some thread sealant. I've also fitted a new rear main seal. My first attempt at fitting a rope seal was a bit tedious, bit I think it will seal...

I'm still waiting to get the pistons back, I texted the guy last night and he said that he'll get onto it asap.
The cam I ended up putting in it has a smaller duration than the one in the 202 which is in the ute now, but it has a bit more lift. (12 degrees less duration at .050 and .019" more lift)

So I think it should have a bit more torque, but less top end power but the bottom end torque is what I really need. I also found that it used heaps of fuel, so hopefully the smaller overlap will help that.

I've been out trying to sort the wiring for the injection, trying to tame the bundle of wires that resembles a tumble weed...
