They're selling bugger all cars and they don't seem to be interested in selling any more. Went to Coffey Ford last week because the Mrs. is upgrading her 2003 BA11 Futura. Salesman didn't want to know us. She bought a new Lancer instead! :yeah:
MY brother has a BA Fairmont.. Only 2 things pop up for an upgrade.. 6 speed auto and 190 engine. Past that it's basically the same car of 5-6 years ago. And then to be honest i don't know if you could get a 6 speed auto on the BF Fairmont??. I just think they put to much into the BA because of the AU. Too loose most of what should be new in the Orion. Which is why the Orion other then a fresher looking body wont be all that new under it.
I recond they would man,any company not making money wouldn't be happy looks alright, has ve doors. FORD NEED SOMETHING SPECIAL!!!
The BF Xr6 etc can be option with the 6 speed, as can the fairmonts i think. Ford do not need a new engine, it is so much better than the holden engine now why would it need to be replaced? It will actually be a bad day when the duratech is dropped into a new falcon. Ford do not need to change much to there underlying chassis, it is already a good package. For comfort I will always choose a ford, for fun, it will be a Holden. From what I have been told Fords concern over the selling of the Falcon is minimal. This is mainly because of how well the Focus, territory etc is selling.
hey minux do you still have your xr8? and have you taken a decent drive of one of those XR6T's...if you have which out of the 2 would you consider a better track weapon? i'd say it would have alot to do with the VE (falcon sales going down) the VE is a bloody nice car and personally i'd take the VE over the BA/BF anyday and im sure alot of people had the same idea...anyway im just dissapointed they have dropped the inline 6 and are going for a bloody V6:cry: anyone know if the will implement a turbo onto this as well?
So if you went into a BF it would only be for the 6 speed auto?. From where I'm sitting i can't give it to much more credit the I6, When there going there perfectly fine but with issues there worse then the Buick V6 for playing up. The advantage the V6 has over the I6 is it's a much smarter engine, Call them what you will but they are high tech and have just touched the surface of them. The I6 without a large amount of money feed into it just wont last the journey. It's just so much easier now to get someone else to build them and import them or assemble them here and fiddle with them rather then design and develop them. It's all about shaving money now.
Havent had the XR8 for quite a while, however, do have the XR6(non turbo) as my current work car. one of the best cars I have had for what it is. Goes well, good on fuel, quiet, comfortable etc. I have driven a BF F6, wasn't that impressed, if i wanted performance i'd bolt a turbo onto a HSV based 8 The reason they are dropping the I6 is due to emissions, the same reason BMW are. It would be too expensive to try and meet new standards. I went into the current BF simply because it was the best choice at the time.
And in the long run hopefully it will be cheaper and much easier to export with LHD something the current one wont do. I didn't know that about BMW. Same reason my brother bought his BA it was the best option for it's price, To match it with a holden he could only get a Equip.. Same thing that also happen with his EFII Ghia, Executive VR was the same price.
Interesting you say this as Nissan have also dropped their inline six single turbo engines for a V6 twin turbo variant......... if Ford release a twin turbo six half as powerful as the new GTR id say there sales will skyrocket.......
