Probably a stupid question, but I was wonderingif taking off the shroud would do the car any harm? I recon it looks ****house and seen a few cars without them, but I didn't want to do it if does harm. I know theres a reason for it, thats why its there, but is it really nesersary?
    Cheers.

Its there for safety, because the fan starts with the motor.

ah thought that might have something to do with it. I was looking at getting twin AU thermos for it down the track (i think thats what fits?)

The most important purpose of the shroud is to suck outside air and provide maximum air flow through the entire surface area of the radiator. If you remove it, there will be a sharp drop in cooling efficiency, as a fair proportion of outside air which was being sucked through the radiator is no longer there, and the fan will now just simply end up re-circulating the same hot air around.

This may not be a problem if the outside temps are mostly in the 20's. If on the other hand the outside temperatures start climbing much higher, then engine cooling will suffer.

Yes I agree it looks like sh.....t, and its in the way of working on the front of the engine, but as I said it was designed for a purpose. The shroud also has the added functionality of preventing your fingers from flying off, but then again, if someone is stupid enough the shroud will not save them.

Don't forget, the 5L V8 produces a lot of heat, and the standard factory cooling system just copes, anything you do to reduce this efficiency will only have detrimental side effects.
