looking great, TT update?
No updates yet, car still isn't ready but popping down there tonight to have a look. I've still got my fingers crossed the car will be ready in time for this long weekend as we're heading away so hopefully, she's all good.
The ZL1 bonnet looks so good, really suits the car.
Car hits the rollers today so fingers crossed she'll peel off some nice numbers and is ready for me to pick up haha
you are going to video the final dyno run right !!!
You're going to love the turbo over the charger... such a different animal. The boost just hits you in the back like Mike Tyson. On a 6 litre I can imagine it will scare the sh!t out of you some times.
I think MPW are going to video the run for me
Yeah, I got bored with the blower pretty quickly (sounds weird saying that lol) and missed the way my turbo 33 kicked me in the ass when it hit boost.
UPDATE: Car hit the rollers last Thursday to get tuned and as it came onto boost, it stripped the splines in a brand new clutch. Bit of a setback but mechanic/tuner is extremly excited about the way it ramped onto boost so once we get a new spline/clutch in there, will be very interested to see what we manage.
UPDATE: Got a call from the mechanic/tuner with an update and the car span 470rwkw on 10psi. Not wanting to lean on it too hard as we're running out of fuel pump. With new pump and head studs, easy 500s all day, everyday.
Should get the car back Friday so will update with pics and dyno graph
Big torque figures too, no doubt?
Yeah, I'd say so! When it was 'charged and making 400rwkw, I think torque was about 1100N/m.
From what the tuner has told me, the power delivery is brutal and is virtually lag free If all goes well, I should get my first drive tomorrow and the keys back then too.
It's gonna be fierce mate. Better take her to a favoured spot to learn her new ways... and GoPro!
Picked the car up on Friday and TOTALLY fallen in love with the car again! Car pulls like a train without any noticeable lag and doesn't hesitate to light them up when you give it some curry.
I'm still getting used to the new clutch, as it's very heavy and doesn't really allow you to slip or ride it. Basically on or off. Coupled with the cam that's in there now, anything less than ~1700rpm and you can feel it buck and can tell it's not happy at those speeds. Doesn't really bother me at all, gives the car a more "raw" feel that I've been longing for since I moved away from the R33. Bit of a learning curve, especially from hill starts. Low-speed roundabouts requries clutch in and blip of throttle before engaging gear but overall, I'm extremely stoked with the manual conversion and the TT
Will get some better pics after work so will update tomorrow with more pics.
View of the Turbosmart 38mm external gates with twin screamers before it all went back together
Oh 470 killer wasps at the wheels. You gotta go to drags...
Yeah, have thought about it but to be honest, I'm more interested in Powercrusie type events
Got more pics but nothing too amazing to look at, seeing as I went the stealth route.
Still waiting for a radiator cover panel to finish it off, but pretty much 99% there.
Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port BOV hidden inside the gutted airbox. Still waiting on another trumpet to replace the plumback port to make it a Megasonic. Keen eyed observers will notice the MAF has been gutted and is just a shell, since we're running MAP, only needed the MAF body for the full stealth look
Overflow tank and catch can. I might fab up a small shield to hide the filter, but from the pic, you can see the overflow tank and 90% of the catch can is hidden under the intake resonators.
Full manual conversion done witht he ripshifter in there. Love it. Boost controller is mounted on the lower side of the dash, near where your left leg would rest. I'm looking to move this somewhere where it's in the line of sight. Was thinking on top of the steering column but I dummied it up and it didn't fit Anyone have any ideas?
Is that a gun in your pocket? Stealth as... even the most seasoned highway pork chops would have a tough time figuring out what's going on.
God i love this thing!
does this happen to be on the front of the SC Bagged Magazine and have a feature inside?
Hahaha yeah, apparently so! But unfortunately, that's when the car was only supercharged, old bonnet and auto
First up - I love what you've done.
Is it possible to use the real estate under your gauges as they are on supports. You would need to do something custom with the top of your centre console to embed the boost controller giving you a tiered effect with the LCD display. Possibly encompassing the gauges as well.
That's a really good idea, but only problem is it's in plain view if I get pulled over dunno, might jsut keep it in the current spot now until I can figure something out.
In the meantime, got some photos done.
