Looks so good mate. Love that bonnet. Bet she gets up and moves once it hits boost. Any vids?
Thanks mate, the only vid I've got is only on light throttle but not sure how to upload?
Not sure if this is gonna work, but here is a light throttle drive off. Excuse the poor camera work haha
yes it worked... now you have put up the tease, show us the one where you go sideways around that round about at full noise
What a bloody beast! Those photos are amazing, love the rolling shots!!!
That looks so good.
Hahaha would love to but went back in for a touch up tune last week and we've noticed the ZL-1 fuel pump is starting to run out of legs up top so I'm on the hunt for a new fuel system now and shoot for 500rwkw. Either a Squash twin pump system or an external system with surge tank.
Perhaps worth a look into ADM's boost referenced FPCM mod for your existing fuel setup? Good for over 500rwkw on ID850s.
Do you have a link for it? sounds pretty interesting cos I'm running 1200cc injectors on E85 and don't wanna spend mega bucks on overhauling the fuel pump side of things (~$3k drive in-drive out for Squash setup )
Sure this is one thread which has the direct contact for Andy at ADM ADM FPCM - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums - Camaro5.com but Google ADM FPCM and look for the SS Camaro (e38) solution for FI. Company is ADM Performance.
Just read the thread from start to finish, tbh i thought this was awsome after a couple pages, then you just went full retard and created an absolute beast, man im super envious right now.
Thanks mate, probably the first and time I've ever been called a retard and been flattered by it.
Haven't updated this thread in a while, so might give it an update soon. Quad projector headlights, custom front lip/splitter and AP Racing 4-pot brakes all 'round.
Well has been a while since I've updated this thread. Late last year I brought a new house so have been busy modifying that instead. Finally found some time and motivation again for the car so decided to flush more money down the toilet.
Realise not eveyrone is gonna like the new mods, cos not even sure how I feel about them.
Finally got around to finishing the engine bay with the stock radiator cover. All I need now is a stock overflow bottle cap so I can dummy it where the stock one is supposed to go and no one will be none the wiser.
Quad projector headlights. The projectors are background coloured red so under certain light, they have a tinge of red in them. I find the headlights to look too dark as it is to the point the headlights look tinted, which I'm not crazy about. Headlights are going back to the builder to modify the shrouds that the projectors are sitting in, so rather than have black shrouds, it'll be chrome so it'll resemble more like the stock SS-V projector headlights I orignially had, with the only difference being quad projectors instead of the stadard dual.
Front splitter/lip. I have always been looking for one, and one finally came up for sale but was suited for a Pontiac G8 due to the front bumper shape. Brought it then got a mate to chuck it on a linishing belt and voila, lip now flows with the SS front bar rather than have a point like the G8s. Wrapped it in carbon vinyl to match the front bar.
HSV E2 4-pot AP Racing brakes. Finally got around to doing the brakes, and was going to go down the Brembo route but came across these and made an impulse purchase. 4-pot AP Racing calipers front and rear. The rotors that came with them had a bit of life in them but thought no point taking shortcuts now, so purchased new RDA slotted/dimpled rotors and braided lines all 'round.
Brakes now feel a billion times better and pulls up on a dime. Mint.
New brakes are massive compared to the standard units but in photos, they still look tiny for some reason.
Pretty sure the mods are gonna stop around here somewhere until I can decide what I want to do with the car.
Option 1: Build a forged 402ci using LY6 cast iron block, upgrade fuel system and aim for 550-600rwkw provided the driveline holds up
Option 2: Sell/trade car for either
i) Gen-F HSV GTS
ii) R35 GTR
iii) R34 GTR
iv) VZ HSV GTO Coupe
Looks awesome mate
I love the splitter!!!!!
i'll help you knock two option out. for me its either get a gen-F GTS 2 or a R35 GTR but bother have high prices. Keep the VE even if you buy a new car
If I were you I'd regret the time put into her if I on sold her to someone else. In the land of commodores you've got one of the most unique, tasteful and bad a$$ around. You'll always miss her if she's gone.
That said.... I'd gladly take her off your mitts
Don't sell, that a mint car mate and the splitter looks the goods, doesn't look ricey which is great.
+1 for dont sell... love the lights and splitter too..
Hahaha would be great to keep the VE even if I buy a new rig but I've already got a company car for the daily commute so that would make 3 cars (4 if you include the missus's) so highly unlikely scenario. I would actually be leaning towards those two options if I was to sell/trade
Thanks mate, actually means alot to hear that cos there's no shortage of nicely modded commodores out there. I agree, I reckon I would regret it the same way I regretted selling the R33, so I'm actually seriously considering hanging onto the VE and build a forged 402ci and strap the turbs onto that
Unless someone offered me a reasonable deal to trade with either a GTS or GTR, will probably hang onto the VE.
Your wallet might hate me for this but look up 'Darton sleeved LS3 blocks'. Perfect for an indestructible 427 stroker that can handle high boost!
