    VS Acclaim V6
    Hi
New to the forum, brought here by a bunch of questions I hoped to find some answers to.

My VS V6 auto displayed a fault light on the dash, so I whipped it around to the mechanics. The auto appeared to be a bit sluggish on my way there.
The diagnostic came back with a code 66 - 3 - 2 Shift Control Solenoid Circuit Fault.
He reset the computer and the light is now out and the car seems fine.
He suggested that if the light was to come back on, I was up for an exchange trans.

A few questions for anyone who knows or has experienced this problem:
Does a complete changeover trans sound like the only option to rectify this fault?
Is there anything I should be doing to try to avoid the same fault reappearing?
And now what may be a silly question:-
The car is parked in the drive which has a reasonable slope, would packing it nose down or nose up make a difference?
    Any help or advice appreciated.
    Regards
    Alex

I'm no expert but it would seem that the problem is the shift solenoid so perhaps just replacing that would be much cheaper than a transmission rebuild.
    Get a second opinion.

Yep common problem for VR VS mine has the similar problem when the trans gets hot shift between 1 and 2 is real hard like "clunk".
Asked a trans expert and he said replacment of the solenoid was needed.
    Ask around the tranny shops.
