I've just had my auto serviced, after it was thumping into gear, much like a Stage II Shift kit, and slightly slipping if I gave it a bit of right foot. Mechanic serviced the auto, said it didn't REALLY need it, but he did it none the less, and also cleared about half a dozen fault codes on the CEL. Anyway, he told me if the CEL came back on, check up on it, cause it most likely will be related to the trans. Went out today, was driving like a dream! bang, engine light, then "shift kit" acted up. Checked fault codes just then, got: 12 - All systems pass 31 - Theft Deterrant (common) and; 68 - Transmission Component Slipping - Auto Transmission Only. Any ideas?
there is an updated memcal for false logging DTC68, but in your case as youre having gearshift dramas id say your trans is failing Rob
The 31 means that either the battery on the key is on its way out, or the key isnt making proper contact with the key reader. If you ever turn the key and nothing happens, and turn it back and try and the car starts, the 31 will usually be logged. Nothing to worry about if you havent noticed it.
my auto trans does similar things too, it slips around corners and revs really high going 2nd-3rd driving either uphill or downhill, anyone know anything bout this?? very annoying, had the car serviced recently and they just changed fluid, was ok for about a day then started slipping/revving out again..
gettin the same code but i have just had a full auto over haul shift kit stall and a heap of other stuff done. still seems to be changing ok and i can't notice any slipping. any help
if you have a high stall convertor fitted the PCM will think the trans is slipping, you need to have the memcal rewritten to stop the light. Rob
