Well my suspension is starting to feel old. The calais was never the harderst ride. But even with my very lows kms, the ride feel ragged and i get alot of body roll. I dont want to go low, but i do want a harder and more supportive ride. Im thinking FE2. Is there anything i should know about installing it into IRS? Can i just use FE2 springs or should i just do the shockers as well. Will the use of FE2 require a camber kit? cheers in advance for comments
from memory: (someone correct me if im wrong?) FE1 = standard commodore suspension FE2 = 1" lower than FE1 (No compressive strength difference... just height) lowering will require a camber kit.... be aware.... there are 2 types... 1/2 camber kits & full camber kits the 1/2 will only adjust some specs... whereas the full kit does the lot... if you want better handling... i strongly suggest you get your hands on a set of front and rear swaybars... they stiffen the "rolling" motion of the car when turning fast... do your homework!
thanks for that, yer i really want to get rid of the body roll. Ride hight is not something i really want to change ill read into sway bars etc
FE2 is slightly stiffer than stock and gives a more sporty feel without losing much ride height.Pedders can give you a similar set up for $400 odd,im looking at their sports ryder set up for mine,it costs a bit more but its well worth it.And im dropping my car 2in at the front and 1.5 at the back, tho im thinking about dropping it another inch yet.Any who give them a call and just get a quote
when you read into sway bars, pay particualr attention how they make the car UNDERSTEER and OVERSTEER.... depending on how you set it up... Look into front and rear strut braces too...
in response to that Id rather have oversteer. I think ill contact my local suspension joint, get them to install something with a harder ride all around and new sway bars and a front strut brace while they are at it. Im not into track work, but i dont want my car to feel like its going to understeer my ass around everything like it does now
drama with oversteer is if you feel it go and back off you tend to go into a fish tail situation as you try to get it back.If you have understeer and back off the car comes back to you and you get it back more easily...but I suppose if you keep your foot into it in both situations youre gone
