Excuse my rant guys, i just couldn't help myself! I am so so so so sick of traffic and with other drivers. Today, i was driving home along the ringroad, north bound from the westgate. Traffic was moving at 100km/h, then banked up for a few kms to 10-40km/h. The reason? Well, a car had broken down and was on the side of the road, and a few metres up the road there was a tow truck with another car. After this, traffic instantly went to 100km/h. What is it with people slowing down from 100km/h to 10-40km/h to look at a broken down car with it's bonnet up and a tow truck? It is not even on the road, not in anyone's way. Too add to this, some idiot cruised for kms along the ring road after this, in the right lane at 80km/h.... wish they'd get the idea when everyone is up their arse. Most people (90% of drivers) should not be licensed, and i am just so fed up with so many people out their that just can't hold speed, change lanes, signal properly rahrahrahrah.... the list goes on, i'm just fed up :ranting:

I'm sorry but I disagree. There is nothing wrong with slowing in order to be able to pay due care and attention. Around a broken down car there are pedestrians. People walking around and freeways don't mix. I have stood out on a freeway with lights flashing and had idiot motorists continuing to barrel towards me at 100 km/h with no indication of slowing down.

For all you know, the banking back traffic could have been because the tow may have had to drive out and use a lane or two to manouvre into position prior to you getting to a point where you could see.

I agree however with your rant in relation to people sitting in the right lane. If the speed limit is above 80 and traffic is not congested, you're to stay left unless overtaking. I give tickets for this stuff, especially if I see them sitting there and cars are going around to pass them on the left.

Would you fine the person passing on the left too?

    I wouldn't.

they have studied this - its actually because everyone brakes something like 10% harder then the guy in front which is why traffic slows right down and then once past the accident/roadworks etc its smooth sailing, so its not people being stupid at all,

Been a passenger in a semi...wouldnt take a job driving one though, seems stressfull at the best of times.

Adelaide is pretty good apart from the peanuts that sit on your bumper in a 50kmh zone but wont pass even with no oncoming traffic.

i always find adelaide much better to drive in. People are not as toot-happy and everything flows better because comparatively everyone seems to punch off the line which keeps things moving better. waited a looooong time for green lights sometimes though (sturt rd onto beach road with name i don't recall)
