I seen the VZ SS run 13.8 as the best time stock and the VZ in here was quoted doing a 13.99. U reckon ur SV5000 is as quick as one of those 5.7 litres??? 14.09 pretty much just .10 seconds slower than it anyway. No way an SV5000 did 14.09 stock buddy. And yeah i seen em both go down a quater mile. Would have had simple mods for that time.
SV5000 is a beast man definatly do close to 14 flat if you can drive it out of a 4000 rpm clutch riding launch. The VP GTS is even quicker
they had nothing after second gear. only came out with something like 165kw wasnt it? at the fly. VQ Statesman made more power lol. WRX struggle doing 14 flat times so i dont see a vn 5.0 doing it. And a wrx WILL munch on a standard vn.
A new WRX actually weighs more than a VN...by like 100kg+....not disagreeing with you just an interesting fact.
yeah prob because of the 4wd system and the fact that they are made much longer and higher than the older ones. But they also gave them more kw.
Yeah the new chassis is over 200kg heavier than the old chassis. WRX STi weighs 1495kg now. I think stock they run like 14 psi? pretty heavy boost for a stock car... but god would I love to have one
Did you know that the more km your car does it gets slower and slower on the qtr? So sometimes the best mod u could do to ur car is to re-freshen ur motors. True fact.
damn that would be good. Im sure u could source one in the US? Might just go google that one now eh!?
Try 200kw for the SV5000 , Here's another fact for you. A car with 150,000ks on it will flog a car with 5,000 ks on it, most cars when tested new are no where near their potential yet
lol i just googled it then. Couldnt find anything except for the Series 3 which are like our Ecotec engines...178kw for one version, 194kw for the other for the american ones...
Engines are tight when new, take a new Commodore for example, you can watch them go from a 13l/100km to a 9l/100km car from new to 15,000 ks on the clock, heaps of posts in the VY and VZ section about new cars getting better with some ks on them, less friction, more power, go faster
u still have to wear em in a little up to at least 5000km though because of all the tightness etc... when the car has done 20000km thats when its better than one that has done 150000km
200kw!! i didnt think the vn's made that much power till the vt commodores? even the senator vs had only 185kw i thought.
Yup 200kw, the Group A had the entire go fast motor and made approx 230-235kw, no one knows for sure because it was waaay underrated from the factory a few other early HSVs were around an over 200kw, The later strokers made 215 or so but they were pretty heavy. All you need to make a VN V8 run at 180-185kw is the very mild clubsport chip. The 200kw+ cars had bigger cams, different heads, extractors, radical tunes, roller rockers, 4 bolt block. etc etc. Detuned race cars ready for Bathurst. Long live the group A rules
I can only tell you what it has run. Another friends car did 14.12. These cars were light, and quick. I suggest of you can get one with under 200000 on it to take it for a drive. They were impressive. More so impressive that they had to run an auto because HSV couldnt at the time find a suitable manual trans to go with it.
*sigh* arguing about 1/4 times when you don't even know the cars. Senators had the 185i and 215i stroker.
