Hey guys, new to the site, been looking into upgrading my VS and such, but of course I'd wanna repair it.

The main thing which is a problem at the moment is that the car has a really rough idle, and when I'm in park (generally doesn't in drive/reverse, but the idle is still rough) it'll stall itself. Sometimes it hesitates to go into gear as well, oh, and it's a dual-fuel car. On LPG, it stalls much, much more often, than on unleaded, even in drive or reverse. Can I change the default/minimum revs for a temporary solution for now?
Also, any idea on how much a power steering pump would be? It's difficult to turn when I'm doing low revs, I'm assuming it's that.

Finally, can super/turbochargers be used with LPG fine?

EDIT; Also, if I get a spoiler, can it be wired so that the backlight at the window still works?

Unless you have liquid injection no, a blower of any kind is out of the question. You cannot have forced induction and a gas mixer. Newer liquid injection setups can be blown, but most (maybe all?) liquid injection setups are gas only so its very unlikely you have one of those.

LPG service at my local guy cost 80 bucks, if anything can be adjusted or rectified it gets done then. They may tell you that you also need a decent engine tune, with plugs, filters etc..

Power steering pumps can be had at the wreckers for 50 bucks. Get one that has no obvious signs of leaking and you should be ok. That may not be the problem though, there is more to power steering than just the pump.

You should get a mechanics opinion, just ask them for a quote to fix the steering (dont tell them you arent going to use them), bring home the quote, buy the parts they quoted on and fit them yourself lol...

Haha okay, how much you think liquid injection costs? I'm not even sure if I have it.
But yeah, wouldn't have though it'd mix with gas anyway, no use upgrading it then, really?

Edited my first post about the spoiler, any idea about that?

You can wire the brakes like that if you want, not sure on the legalities, but it will piss you off. Every time you put your foot on the brake the brake light will reflect off the spoiler, make your rear vision non existent, and light up the inside of your car like a brothel.

Its still worth upgrading the motor if you like, gas is a good thing, you just cant use a blower with that particular type of system. Just simple things like CAI, decent exhaust, and a good tune can make a major difference to the car.

The bottom line is how long do you want to keep the car? If you love it and plan on keeping it forever, its worth spending cash on. If its just a car, then you just maintain it as well as you can without spending more than you need to.

Well yeah, that's what I've been thinking all this time lol, I probably plan on having it for another 2 years, I'll be off my P's by then, but yeah. I'll see how I go with the spoiler deal haha, I wanna spend a little bit and maybe sell it for 3.5 or 4 grand rather than 2 or 2.5 without any mods, normally you can rip people off with them too, and not really lose money overall. (I hope :p)
    And what's CAI?
Gonna get it serviced, and an LSD diff of course (It'd help performance too, right?), but other than that, not sure about the exhaust system yet. Might stick with a muffler and tip for now, see how I go later.

Oh, and the reason I asked about the spoiler was because I have an HSV logo over my taillight, which is illegal, but I'm hoping cops won't notice if I get pulled over again and I have the spoiler up. I'm surprised I've never been pulled over yet, though, lol, only time was a booze bus.

CAI = Cold air induction. Just a box with an air filter in it which gets cooler air ducted to it from outside the engine bay.

Dont plan on making a single dollar profit on it in 2 years. Every dollar you spend on it will raise its value by a lot less.. its an old car, it has no special features, its never going to be worth much more than it is now. If it cost you 2 grand to buy, and you spend 4 grand on it in the next 2 years, if you are lucky you will get 3 for it when you sell it.

An LSD helps traction, thats all, getting power to the ground via both wheels instead of one. Its not important to you, with an ecotec you dont have a traction problem, so its wasted money and wont help performance at all in your case.

Have you considered removing the HSV logo, since you know its illegal anyway?

Yeah, I might just remove it. I'm just gonna save over the next two years instead, just keep this as a nice driving car for now, thinking of getting a nice comfy interior though.
