digm8 a while back i wanted 20's for my vt, i pm'ed a bloke on here who has a VX calais with 20's and this is what he said to me:

Hopefully this will answer all your question and some.

You shouldn’t have any problems with 20’s on your car. I don’t have any issues with clearance with mine. You will have to get all the guards rolled so there is no scrubbing.

You will also want to lower your car too; otherwise it will look like a 4wd. If you go with 20’s then your shocks may also need to be changed to allow clearance. For new springs and shocks it will set you back around $800. Since your car is a VT you will also need a camber kit to straighten out the wheels. Cost around $400.

As for legalities, I recently got defected for bald tyres (stockies on the rear); I was told that you can only have 2” bigger than factory mags. Mine originally came with 16’s, so I can legally go to 18’s. Only got a warning. Personally you shouldn’t have much of a problem with them, cops wont bother you if you drive normally. It may also void your insurance.

    hope this helps mate

Unless your going to go cam route, hi flow cats are pointless, just ask them to open up the originals to 2.5 inch.

if you dont have one already you might want to invest in a camber kit if going with bigger wheels and lowering otherwise your tyres will wear prematurely

In that case don't waste your money yet. Decent steels will cost you around $320 each. What you have now is fine for even a small cam. The money you save on it will get you your OTR setup :)
