Looking to tweak my exhaust just a tad.

Got a 1999 VT Series I

I am looking at a 2.5 Catback but leaving stock cat in place, looking to keep the car as quiet as possible when cruising but to have a nice low end when booted (not much high mids or highs). Any suggestions here, extractor may be looked at further down the track.

What is a rough price for something like this? Feel free to recommend people in VIC

Cheers

you can get 2.5" single muffler systems for around 250 fitted..

gives out a bit better note than standard

Hey mate, Welcome to JC.

Given you said you want to keep it relativly quiet, I would recommend a 2.5 cat back with the rear resonator (Rear Smaller Muffler), As this takes the deep drone out of them.

Yor looking at about $300+ for a nice cat back system, Extrators go for anywhere above $400. Then there is the Fitting/Labour charge, unless your handy with cars and a keen to do it yourself.

Is this all it will do though? I don't just want added noise without some performance gain.

For a catback system, you will get a performance gain but it will only be about 2rwkw. Headers will get you maybe 10rwkw max on a stock engine. If you want performance, look into the induction side of things too.

Induction is difficult for another 12 months till I'm on fulls. Would I be better off going headers over the catback system or it is a not one without the other scenario that headers pull the extra 10ish.

Get some high lift rockers, 98octane fuel, a clean air filter, some Castrol Edge Synthetic oil, a fresh set of spark plugs and leads and you can run pretty quick well and not break any laws. They are guaranteed to make a REAL diffence.

Cool, the 160000km service is up soon anyway. Already done the air filter. Kinda sucks to have to pay for things that I can do (plugs etc) but the car is book serviced and I'd like to keep that going.
