I now own a 2003 VY S1 SS 6sp man ute with 131000kms on the clock and with the following mods already done by the previous owner:
    King springs all round
    Twin 2 1/2inch exhaust
    Extractors
    High flow cats
    Hotdogs
    OTR intake
    Maffless tune
    Pioneer single din head unit
    Rockford fosgate 2ch amp
2 12inch subs in seperate boxes behind seats
    20inch rims
    Ripshifter

Thats all so far, there might be other mods but time will tell. I have noticed some small issues but nothing serious yet and when purchased i drove it home 110kms away and it ran really nice. My only complaint is the ripshifter is set way too short as its clunky and hard to shift the 6 speed manual but all good atm and will post pics as soon as possible. I must admit the ute is very loud but nicely done! I need to go to a cruise event to test it out but it has heaps of low end torque for highway cruising in 6th gear. Glad to own one now!

My only other V8 i can compare this to is a VG Valiant ute with a 318ci fireball motor 2bbl holley with a 3sp auto and running on a mix of unleaded and aviation fuel as lead had been phased out and it was uncontrollable but fun as a club car. The ss ute has a lot more control with the same power!

One question i do have is the short clutch engagement as 80 percent of the clutch lever is nothing until it engages at the last moment. Is this common or something i should look at? Any reply would be appreciated. Cheers

At those kms if the clutch hasn't been replaced already it's probably just about due for a new one, get an aftermarket heavy duty clutch kit with a single mass flywheel

I did think of that but there is no slippage and full engagement, does that still mean problems for me?

Hey mate, sounds like an awesome ute. Just wondering what the driving experience is like on the 20"s? Would also be keen to know what brand the ripshifter is and whether or not you are able to get adjusted to be comfortable. Just about to replace the shifter on my 6-speed again and would love for this to be the last time...

For what it's worth I don't think my 6-speed has quite the same clutch feel going by description, I would say probably 50/60% nothing then eases through. I intend to replace or rebuild the box in mine though.

Definitely keen to see some pics.
