hey guys this a totally random topic, but im buying and new tank for my turtle and im sure some one around here would know there stuff about fish tanks.
so basicly i just wanna know if these are good prices or atleast what i should expect to pay. ive been qoute

$95 for a 4 foot tank
$140 for a filter that the guy said would suit the size of the tank
$85 for a double 4 foot light
$1.75 per kilo of rocks

this is all brand new

so if you know what your talking about let us know if the prices seem about right

That's a pretty good price. Is it setup for the turtles already (ie, little platforms for them to be out of the water)?

I paid $200 second hand for my 4ftx2ftx1.5ft (But that included, stand, filter, light fitting)

Although you could get a cheaper filter. What type was it?

Price sounds pretty good to me. As for the filter, would always pay for a decent one as it is the one thing that will break down without notice leaving you without filtration. I have been running the same Eheim filter in my tank for 10+ years without fail.

as mentioned above you need a good filter that will last a long time, by the same token you should get one much cheaper than that which will still last a long time.

i know its not as long but i still have a cheapo $20 filter which hasnt stopped in 5 years...

my sisters got a turtle in a 4foot tank, suits nicely
make sure the turtle has EASY access to get on rocks and "sunbake"
and i mean easy access, they're pretty freakin stupid sometimes

filter is the most important, dont skimp on that

regularly clean out the tank, check ph levels etc etc
give it a variety of food too

thanks guys.

the turtle is a eastern long neck that ive had since i was in year 7 and ive done my HSC and two years of an apprenticeship. so thats about 8 years and it has lived in a smaller tank but i thought it was time to move up in the world..

the filter is a AQUA ONE CF700.

and i am goin to make a little platorm for it to sit on out of perspects and pebbles to make a sort of "pebblecrete" platform

once again thanks for the advice

oh and xlr8-87 what ph level should a turtle have ive never really checked any of that before.

i work at an aquarium shop here in adelaide and i can tell you thats alot for a aqua one cf-700

look around you should be able to find Mozoo ME-1000 for $100 or jebo filters for cheaper.

if you want a real good filter go for a eheim (really expensive though) or a fluval 304 or 305 which normally are priced well.

as for the tank and light, they seem like great prices
