I went to the galapagos islands this time last year and caught this 6ft wahoo 10km off isla santa cruz. Landed it in 45mins was a prick to land. Ended up taking half and giving the skipper the other half as thanks. Went to our fav restaraunt done a deal with them to cook us a few meals for $2usd each then let them keep the rest of the wahoo to say thanks. Love fishing have done on and off for years in fresh and salt water but this experiance will always be the best (so far)
That's a nice catch. I've only been out sea once, just caught the usual reefies, still a good feed. But that wahoo is a good looking fish.
I like fishing! Bonding activity for me and my father in law. Used to fish at some of Bayports dams for trouch and redfin... but that got a bit boring. So last Jan bought a boat and ambitiously went out a few times with nothing but some rods and a loose idea of where to fish. Most successful outing was about 20 pinkies... all jsut under size and one flat head which we used for bait when out bait ran out. This year, I have a phone full of fishing spots, a fish finder and a baitboat... so it is on! Plan is to go out on the bay (Port Phillip) and catch me some snapper... Probably heading out the first time on the 22nd/23rd of Sept. Fingers crossed.
Love my fishing. Me and my old man have always gone fishing in the summertime. I fish mostly (99% of the time) in salt water esturies. My fav spot is Tuross Lake down at Tuross Head down the NSW south coast. Great little spot, especially for flatty. Once the weather warms up, get out there on the water, pull up to the Boat Shed. Grab some hot chips, bait head on out. Best days of my life have been on that lake
Did a bit of deep sea fishing off North West Cape, Coffs Harbour and PNG a couple of times. Best was a small (65Kg) black marlin on a bait line (24 lb) off Bagabag Island, PNG.
Yeah love fishing, but really don't get out there enough. Never caught that one you remember, but i've had 2-3 I remember that got off! Main species we target are snapper with gummy being a lucky by-catch! 95% of our fishing is done in westernport bay down here in Vic, Also love catching a king george whiting on light gear and they aren't too shabby on a fork either!
yeah we have property that backs on to westernport and we actually catch the majority of our king george ( usually 30cm but up to 45cm) in weedy areas on the mudflats with some sand scattered around, also just in 1-1.5m of water on the drift... Certainly don't need to travel far to catch them
