Could somebody give me a list of things to be done to the stock 3.8 ecotec before fitting a sc.

Basically if you could section it for me into REQUIRED, RECOMMENDED & OPTIONAL that would be great.

Cheers

VS L67 Statesman
Required:
L67 Heads, LIM, M90, Fuel Rails, Balancer, Idler Pulley bracket, charger belt tensioner bracket and pulley, L67 tune (it may run on the ecotec tune though)

Recommended:
Upgraded Fuel Pump,

Optional:
Extractors/exhaust, smaller pulley, intercooler, roller rockers, cam, tune....the list goes on

It's so much easier to just fit a complete L67. Less mucking around and the L67 has lower comp (8.5:1).

I have VT not VS, dunno if weight factors in here.

Yeah I was reading that the complete changeover is easier but I have a VT already with fairly low kms and there is an M90 at my house unused.

Found this list, look ok to everyone?

L67 Supercharger
L67 Lower Intake
L67 Harmonic Balancer
L67 Heads
L67 Throttle Body (I think)
L67 Fuel Rail
Supercharger Belt
Lower Intake Gaskets
Supercharger Gasket
Head Gaskets
Valve Cover Gaskets (? Maybe depending on age)
Pari of O-Rings
Throttlebody gasket (unless it is still attached to supercharger)
MAP and Boost Bypass Wiriing adapters
GTP PCM
tensioners and idler pulleys
valve covers
valve cover gaskets
fuel injectors

Cheers

buy an l67, don't waste your time or with adding crap. the l67 is a stronger motor made to take the charger.

If I were still inclined to do this, how well does the ecotec take a supercharger and what can be strengthened it help it withstand.

The other thing that occured to me was to keep my VT n/a and to buy/build another engine gradually. I can't drive on the sc for another year anyway.

Which engines will the M90 fit properly?

the l36 will take the charger fine on low boost, but personally would never ever think about chucking more than 10psi through it, and would probably have to rebuilt it before to long but i think it should cope for a while. the l67 has what i believe to be ceramic coated pistons. and crap like that, just to beef it up a bit to support the charger. if i were you i would buy an l67 and build it. i think you can pick one up for around the $2g mark now, add all the goodies. nice quick reliable car,

actually if i were you i would just sell your car in a years time and buy a car with either a l67 or lsx motor in it.

Yeah been thinking that. Was thinking to build up an engine (SC 6) now and then when off P's drop it in a VS body (Like the shape and it's light).

Sound like a good plan or not? So the L67 would be the best option for building an SC 6? Any alternatives to look into?

Cheers
