Hi, I need help, is it feasible to fit the heated VE Calais door mirrors to a VE Commodore?
I originally thought to just tap into the rear demister power and the internal courtesy light will this work or do I really need to change the BCM to make it work?

They work differently.

You could tap into another circuit but make sure it’s used as a trigger. Then you will need an alternative power source, so relays and stuff are going to be needed.

I don’t think I have ever had a time when the heater function has ever been used on ours.

Thank you Fu Manchu,
I thought if I used the power for the rear window demister for the door mirrors, so when you turn on rear demester the door mirrors will also come on and time out the same time as the rear window so no need for relays or anything else I think, is this a viable solution or I may be wrong
Also would the mirror controls/ settings be the same?

You haven't factored in the gauge of wire used in the factory wiring loom and the additional power used on the circuit to heat the mirrors.
You can only use that wire as the trigger for a properly relayed and wired set up.
It will either start a fire, blow a fuse or damage the BCM if you just tap into that wire.

Oh, I see what your saying, use the rear window demister power wire as the switch wire in the relay and using separate power this way the BCM is out of the equation so you speak
In your opinion do you think the door mirrors are doable

They are but I don’t know why you want this. Had mine since 2009 and never needed the feature.

Sorry I disappeared yesterday work got hectic.
Thank you for your time made me think out of the box and really helped me out.
So you think it's doable, that's good to hear
You never used your rear window demister all this time? very lucky

One question, in your opinion would I be better off using the switch wire for the rear window demister or the power wire for the rear window demister to trigger the door mirrors?

The wire from the switch, to the demister.

I'd splice straight into rear demister power feed. I can't guarantee it is the same right this minute without a wiring diagram, but I know for certain in a VF, there is no difference in the circuit, besides an extra power feed to each mirror. They are fed off of a relay anyway, the BCM only switches the relay.

I'd be 95% sure a VE is the same way.
