I'm looking to upgrade the headers on my WHll Statesman. I currently have a twin 2.5 inch system from the cats. The engine retains the stock headers/cats. I'm working to a tight budget so I'm chasing a set of HSV headers. I know that the VYll ones are the better choice however I want to know if these will bolt up to the stock cat pipes or whether they need modification?
Anyone done this mod?
Thanks!

The VY HSV long tube headers need the cats to match, the factory cat has a long front pipe that connects to the exhaust manifold, the VYII has short pipes on the cats. FYI, the VYII HSV headers are HM so HM cats will fit.

Thanks for that mate. I understand that the VYll HSV headers are the pick however what is your opinion on the VT ones? I know they're primaries are smaller but surely they must flow better than the stock headers? Only reason I'm asking is my budget is extremely tight and I can get VT Clubby headers and cats for $180 and I can fit those myself.

Anything is an improvement over the stock manifolds. The VT short headers will give you a bit better acceleration, but as the revs get up they run out of puff, the VY long tube 4-1's have the same bottom end, but they extend the torque higher in the revs and sound better too.
